Confusing Verbs:

ആശയക്കുഴപ്പമുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന ക്രിയകള്‍:

1. Make - creation of a physical object, an action/reaction, a sound/speech or food

My dad likes to make food

(നിർമ്മിക്കുക - ഒരു ഭൌതിക വസ്തുവിന്റെ സൃഷ്ടി, ഒരു പ്രവർത്തനം / പ്രതികരണം, ഒരു ശബ്ദം / സംസാരം, ഭക്ഷണം

ഭക്ഷണം ഉണ്ടാക്കാൻ എന്റെ ഡാഡ് ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നു)

Do - jobs or activities with "anything" or "something" also indicates generic action.

I need to do housework

("anything" or "something" ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ജോലി ചെയ്യുകയോ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്നതും സാധാരണ പ്രവർത്തനത്തെ സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

എനിക്ക് വീട്ടുജോലികൾ ചെയ്യണം.)

 

2. Refuse - to decline, to accept/give unwillingness

"I refuse to argue"

(നിരാകരിക്കുക - നിരസിക്കുക, സ്വീകരിക്കതിരിക്കുക /വിസമ്മതിക്കുക

"ഞാൻ വാദിക്കാൻ വിസമ്മതിക്കുന്നു"

Deny - declaring untruth, disagreement to withhold or disown something

Most deny that the sky is orange

നിഷേധിക്കുക - അസത്യം പറയുക, എന്തെങ്കിലും പിടിച്ചുനിര്ത്താനോ നിഷേധിക്കാനോ വിയോജിപ്പുകൾ പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കുക.

ആകാശം ഓറഞ്ച് ആണെന്നത് മിക്കവരും നിഷേധിക്കുന്നു.

3. Say - a verb usually used without an object

She knew what to say to her sister

Tell - Informs or instructs

Tell your brother to make his bed

4. Stay - Stay is an informal verb

Don't stay out late

Remain - Remain is used more in formal sense

Though the team lost, fans remain loyal

5. Sit - is a verb

Mostly people prefer to sit why they eat

Seat - is a verb and noun

Please find a seat

Seated - is a verb

Please wait to be seated

6. Shall - is used with first person pronouns (I and We)

We shall take a walk

Will - will is used with second and third person pronouns (You, he, she, it, they)

He will go home when the movie is over.

How '-ing' verbs are made:

എങ്ങനെ '-ing' ക്രിയകൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു :

1. y ing = ying

play = playing-കളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു

fly = flying-പറന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു

study = studying-പഠിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു

2. e = (drop the e) ing

If the verb ends in an E we remove the E and add ING.

ഈ പദം ഒരു E- യിൽ അവസാനിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ നാം E നീക്കം ചെയ്ത് ING ചേർക്കുക.

dance - dancing-നൃത്തം ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു

fake = faking-വ്യാജമായിചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു

rhyme = rhyming-താളമിട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു

3. ee ing = eeing

see = seeing-കണ്ടുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു

flee = fleeing-പാഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു

agree = agreeing-സമ്മതിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു

4. ie = ie (drop the ie) ing

If the verb ends in IE we change it to YING.

ഈ പദം IE ൽ അവസാനിക്കുകയാണെങ്കിൽ നമ്മൾ അത് YING എന്നതിലേക്ക് മാറ്റുകയാണ്.

die = dying-മരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു

lie = lying-കള്ളമ്പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു

tie = tying-കെട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു

5. c/v/c* = double final c ing

If the verb ends in a consonant vowel consonant, we double the final consonant and add ING.

run = running

put = putting

stop = stopping

6. If a two-syllable verb ends in a consonant vowel consonant, we do not double the final consonant when the stress is on the first syllable.

Infinitive - ING form

to happen - happening

to enter - entering

to offer - offering

to suffer - suffering

7. We do not double the final consonant when the verb ends in W, X or Y or when the final syllable is not emphasized.

Infinitive - ING form

to fix - fixing

to enjoy - enjoying

to snow - snowing

8. If the verb ends in a stressed vowel R, we double the final R and add ING.

Infinitive - ING form

refer - referring

defer - deferring

9. If the verb ends in an unstressed vowel R, we do not double the final R and add ING.

Infinitive - ING form

to offer - offering

to suffer - suffering

to whisper - whispering
